This is the their stage of three that I’ve talked about here.

Stage 3: Create and implement your business system

Many entrepreneurs work very hard in their business without any result because they they are play the wrong role in their company. They should not be the person who delivers the products or service, they should be the person who manages the company and improving its business model. A system must be created to solve the problem of working very hard in the business more that on the business. The system should runs the company not the people. With the existence of a system business owners and executives will have more free time to do what matters the most by identifying the processes that can be outsourced or delegated. Also, by having a system a business can run without highly qualified people that costs money and time to recruit and manage.

The main two tasks are:

  1. Business process development. This can be visualized using Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) tools. Also, the processes for marketing, sales and products should be developed as part of the business processes.
  2. Business process automation. This is where you will use some Cloud-based tools to automate your business, marketing and sales processes. It is critical to choose the right echo system of tools based on your business model. Those tools will make your business more scalable, effective and efficient. Tools like: Customer Relationship Management (CRM), accounting systems, payment gateways, ..etc.

This is the second stage of three that I’ve talked about here.

Stage 2: Build and evaluate your innovative business model

Many startups start their business competing in price, quality or features, which is a common mistake. This stage where many startups fail to build and understand. Most of them go with a traditional business model where they enter a very competitive markets (a.k.a. Red Ocean market) where they should be in a Blue Ocean market. If a startup can discover a unique value proposition that solves a specific problem to a specific niche using a smart channel, they are now in a Blue Ocean market because they are not competing with another business. The creation of business model is a continuous activity, businesses should evaluating their business model on a consistent basis where they keep innovating by creating new values to existing clients or attracting new prospects. The way to charge premium is to create an innovative business model, where you are the specialist in solving that specific problem.

Every business has a model whether they are aware of it or not. if I asked: ” What is your business model?” Each business will have different way of explaining what is their business model. There is no standard way of explaining a business model before the ” business model canvas” from “business model generation” book. This stage is about creating an innovative business model using business model canvas.

Creating a business model is not enough, startups should be able to evaluate their business model in a very flexible and agile way. The lean startup methodology can be used to evaluate a business model, where the minimum viable product (MVP) is the first business model that an entrepreneur built. That MVP goes through the evaluation and collecting feedback stages. Then based on the feedback the business model will be adjusted and recreated.

You Though That You Were An Entrepreneur?

This is the first stage of three that I’ve talked about here.

Stage 1: Become an influential entrepreneur

Many startups and small businesses lose interest in their business within the first two to five years because their business didn’t align with what they love and enjoy doing, even though it seemed to be so at the beginning. To make your business last for almost forever you have to make your business part of your life, and your life part of your business. You must enjoy every single second of being in the business not just waiting for that big result to celebrate, celebrate with every small win along the journey.

This stage starts with the discovery of your personal vision, purpose, mission and core values. Influential entrepreneurs lives and take decisions based on their vision, purpose, mission and core values. And one of the biggest decisions an entrepreneur take is: should I be in that business? and how am I going to productize and deliver it?

It is not true that any person can be in any business as long as they work hard and smart. You must start with yourself before you start your business. You need to discover the passion and be an expert in a field or industry. You must be an influencer in that field or industry. Not just any influencer but an influential entrepreneur.

Based on your personal passion, vision, purpose, mission and core values you build your business vision, purpose, mission and core values. The former (your personal passion, vision, purpose, mission and core values) doesn’t have to be monetizable as you are not selling anything, you are just positioning your self in as the expert and you are willing to publish articles or books out from that personal passion. Also, it is not something you build, it is something you discover. However, the later (your business vision, purpose, mission and core values) must be monetizable. At this stage you will have a business idea and a mission on what you want to achieve on the long term (beside the money).

The text stage is where we will convert that business idea and mission that comes from a personal interest and passion into a real successful business.

Your First Startup: The 3 Stages To Build a Successful Business From a Successful Life

jpeg-2

This is the title of my new upcoming book. After a long experience in entrepreneurship and technology; I’ve created a 3 stages methodology for individuals to be successful in life and business.

I believe that it is critical to be successful in both, life and business. In fact, I don’t consider it an entrepreneurial success if it was only on life or business. If you look at any successful entrepreneur and their businesses you will notice that their personality and personal life drives the success of their business.

Also I believe in innovation, which many people think of product innovation where you create new software or product to sell. Product innovation is not necessary to build a successful business, but an innovation in a business model is critical for success.

One common problem that many startups are facing; they don’t have a system that allows them to scale. Without the system entrepreneurs and business owners keep working in their business more than on their business. Creating and documenting the system is one thing, and implementing the system with automation softwares is another thing.

Therefore, the three stages to build a successful business from a successful life are:

  • Stage 1: Become an influential entrepreneur. Read more about stage one from here.
  • Stage 2: Build and evaluate your innovative business model. Read more about stage two from here.
  • Stage 3: Create and implement your business system. Read more about stage three from here.

I will write about each one of those stages in my blog.

This is the title of my new upcoming book. After a long experience in entrepreneurship and technology; I've created a 3...
